Hi, I'm Jamie. I'm a writer, reader, and huge TV junkie. I just might post about all three here on this blog. Have a look around. And if you want, drop me an email and tell me what you think. Thanks for visiting!

Monday Must Reads!...Delirium!!

Okay so if you happen to follow me here at writers write, right?, then you may have noticed that there is no Meet an Author Monday post today. That's because I neglected to contact an author last week to set up an interview for today. My apologies.

Now, I foresee this happening more in the future, so to offset my lack of organization I've come up with a replacement for those missed Mondays. Please say hello to Monday Must Reads! This little meme has been created for the sole purpose of showcasing books that I think you, well, Must Read (hence the title).

Today's selection is one of my new favorites. It's the beginning of a dystopian series that is so beautifully written I immediately became lost in the pages, only finding my way out with the final words. Please, go right now to your library or bookstore or ebook website and pick up a copy of...

product description from laurenoliverbooks.com

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn't understand that once love--the deliria--blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold.

Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Haloway has always looked forward to the day when she'll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: she falls in love.

I'm not going to post a review for fear of revealing things about this book. I'm just going to say that you Must Read Delirium...now!

  8. Gosh darnit, I convinced myself it was a stand-alone and was pleased about the realistic ending. This goes back to my comment about really wanting more stand-alones in YA. I'm not sure how the knowledge that it's a series affects my feelings about the book.
